To create what we want, we must be able to move past our fears. Fear shows up in our lives in many ways at different times. Many times, we allow it to stop us or distract us from achieving our goals. Often times, the fear that may be present now came from an earlier time in your life and it may no longer apply- in other words, it’s an outdated thought or belief. Or this fear may be from the past or a different area of your life and is being transferred unconsciously to the area where you feel stuck. So give yourself permission to be honest with what you most fear in this part of your life. Often we are triggered by something in our past that is unresolved or left us feeling mistreated, abandoned or scared. Just bringing consciousness to what has left us feeling the fear or feeling stuck will give us more space and freedom to see something different and create something new.
My intention is that you will complete this exercise feeling inspired and motivated to take action today. So before you begin- Make sure you have a pen and paper handy to jot down some notes.
Start out this exercise by taking a deep breath and as you do, close your eyes and turn your awareness inside. Just give yourself permission to connect to the answers within you, as you answer these questions.
1) As you take a deep breath, see what part of your life you most want to have a shift in.
2) Take a deep breath and allow yourself to see a vision of this part of your life, as it is right now.
3) As you look at this part of your life, take a deep breath and ask yourself these questions:
Where am I just allowing what’s not working to be ok? Where am I being nice or accepting what is, when I may need to set a boundary and say no? How am I just accepting the circumstances as they are? Just trust whatever answer comes to you and write it down.
4) On your next breath, allow yourself to see what pain, your choice to not handle this part of your life, is causing you. Is it causing you upset, anger, frustration, disappointment, hurt or are you just numb in this part of your life? Just notice what’s present and write it down.
5) On your next breathe, allow yourself to see or hear the answer to this question:
What am I holding onto in this part of my life? What do I most fear “losing” or having to let go of? Am I holding onto an old way of being, a fear, a judgment about myself or someone else, or a way of being in a relationship that no longer works?
6) What way of being would I have to let go? What thought, what behavior or what excuse would I have to let go of to create what I want in this part of my life?
7) On your next breathe, ask yourself: What fear keeps you stuck and allowing this situation, circumstance or relationship to continue as it is? Maybe you fear you’re not good enough or smart enough to do something different, maybe you fear you will be ridiculed or humiliated or don’t have what it takes or don’t know what to do. Just write down whatever fear is keeping you from creating this part of your life as you want it to be.
8) On your next breathe, What part of you are you not acknowledging that could help you handle this issue in your life? What part of you could give you the strength to do what needs to be done? Maybe you need to embrace more of your confidence, your power, your courage. . or focus more on the knowing that you always deal with whatever happens- that you will be ok no matter what happens. What part of you do you most need to embrace or acknowledge right now?
9) And then finally on your next breathe, ask yourself What specific action can I take this week to make a change in this part of my life? What is one action I could take to begin to embrace more of the power, confidence or courage I need to make this shift or make this change in this part of my life?
Maybe you need to write down all the amazing qualities you have that can help you change this part of your life. Maybe there is someone you need to communicate something with. An apology that needs to be made, a boundary that needs to be set or an action you can take to move you toward what you want to create. Whatever it is, trust the answer that comes to you and write it down. And most importantly, put the action in your calendar so that you complete it this week.
You may want to take some time to journal about anything else that you are seeing as a result of this exercise. I support you in having an amazing week!
