“Life is quite a whirlwind of breathtaking magnificence, immense suffering, and everything in between. I am beyond grateful to have both endured it and had the opportunity to share the wisdom I’ve gained from it.”
For the past two decades, I have had the distinct honor and privilege of bearing witness to people’s lives – their challenges, trauma, pain, breakthroughs, epiphanies, growth, and so much of what it means to travel this journey of life.
Sometimes, life is messy, arduous, painful and may bring us to our knees. Other times, it can be glorious, joyful, breathtakingly beautiful, and can render us speechless.
It has been one of the greatest joys of my life to be an integrative life coach.
During hours upon hours of coaching others, I have had a close-up lens with which to observe human behavior, the many different decisions we make, and the way the psyche accumulates and assimilates our past. It has been nothing short of fascinating.
The truth is that each one of us is merely a culmination of all we’ve experienced in our lives, up and until, we take time to reflect on what’s going on within us and make a conscious decision to unravel and unpack our past and how its impacted who we have become. From this newfound clarity, we can decide how it will further determine who we are and what is possible for our lives moving forward.
One of the most glaring and profound observations I have made during countless hours of coaching others is that no matter what walk of life someone comes from, each one of us has, at some point in our life, felt not good enough. What I have seen at the heart of so many of my client’s struggles, as well as my own, which I will share throughout this book, is that despite how amazingly brilliant, talented, successful, or courageous we may actually be, there is a part of us that is loudly shouting, often harshly criticizing our every move with sentiments like, “you don’t measure up, you don’t have what it takes, your business, this project, this book, your dissertation, your parenting, who you are, isn’t good enough, you’re not good enough.”
It is the sole reason I chose to write this book.
Regardless of whether you’re male, female, rich, poor, young, old, successful, have made it through immense challenges in your life or are still stuck in a huge mess that you’re not quite sure how to get out of, each one of us has, at some point in our life, felt like we don’t measure up. It is undeniably a part of the human condition.
However, what I’ve also personally experienced and guided thousands of people to embrace is that it doesn’t have to define you or hold you back from living your best life. It can be the actual pathway into your greatest, most glorious self.
This book is the journey back to that truth. To no longer allow the voice in your head that declares, “I’m not good enough, smart enough, talented enough, courageous enough, I just don’t have what it takes,” to make you feel bad or to stop you from experiencing and embracing the richness this life has to offer. It will also guide you to embrace your greatness and own your unique nature – to deeply connect and illuminate the part of you that knows you are here for a divine purpose. So, without wasting another precious moment, let’s get right to it!
